Showcasing Paediatric Virtual Wards
We were delighted to attend the South West Children's Community Nurse Network Conference held in Bridgwater. This event provided an excellent opportunity for teams across the region to come together and share insights on improving paediatric care.
A highlight of the conference was the interest in Somerset’s paediatric virtual ward. Many attendees were eager to learn how this innovative approach had been established and the tangible benefits it was providing to patients, parents, and paediatric staff. The paediatric virtual ward has proven to be a game-changer in delivering high-quality care remotely, ensuring that young patients receive timely and effective treatment while reducing the need for hospital visits.
Particularly noteworthy is the role the paediatric virtual ward will play in managing Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and gastrointestinal infections over the upcoming winter period. These conditions often see a significant increase in incidence during colder months, and the virtual ward is poised to provide crucial support. By offering health monitoring and remote care, the virtual ward helps manage symptoms early, reducing the strain on hospital resources and improving patient outcomes.
We are excited about the positive impact this initiative is having and look forward to seeing its continued success in the coming months. The conference was a fantastic platform for sharing knowledge and best practices, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of paediatric care in the region.
Stay tuned for more updates on our initiatives and progress in enhancing patient care through innovative technology.
